Minnesota Interfaith Power & Light believes the active care of creation is integral to spiritual life and social justice. Through leadership and guidance to Minnesota’s faith communities, they respond to climate change by promoting energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy sources. Since their founding as Congregations Caring for Creation in 2004, MN IPL has mobilized religious support for landmark legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Minnesota, educated hundreds of thousands of congregants, and worked with every major religious denomination in the state. MN350 and Minnesota Interfaith Power and Light have partnered on several campaigns and projects including national Clean Air Act Campaigns for regulations on new and existing coal plants, Keystone XL, and Moving Planet. Mindy Ahler Olmstead, MN IPL Executive Director is an active member of the MN350 Political Advocacy Team. On Saturday, September 24th, 2011 in St. Paul, MN more than 40 faith congregations came together to form the Moving Planet - Moving Faith procession to send one message taking action on climate change is a moral imperative and all people of faith should respond. Over 150 people of faith joined the 1,000 people already gathered for the “Moving Planet” rally at the Capitol grounds, sponsored by MN350.
