Oil Campaigns

MN350 is inspired by the effort of the Indigenous Environmental Network, Honor the Earth, and other First Nations in taking action to hold the fossil fuel companies accountable, to stand in the way of further pipeline development. Tribal Members of the Red Lake Reservation have engaged in a lengthy struggle to have Enbridge pipelines removed from their ceded land (land returned back to the reservation from the Federal government).  In addition, Friends of the Headwaters , Honor the Earth, and Carleton County Organic Farmers have organized citizen input to the proposed Enbridge Sandpiper pipeline.

We are also inspired by groups in Minnesota and Wisconsin working on railroad oil transportation safety and many organizations, such as the Sierra Club, Alliance for Sustainability, Clean Up the River Environment (CURE), Conservation Minnesota Federation, Institute of Agriculture and Trade Policy and WaterLegacy who helped pass new oil transportation legislation.
